The Minnesota Skills-Based Hiring Accelerator provides half-day workshops, offered monthly around the Twin Cities metro area, that will help your company or organization jump start your skills-based practices. Accelerator participants receive training and tools to allow employers to:​

• Rebuild their hiring process with a skills and competency-based approach by focusing on candidates’ capabilities rather than credentials
• Improve retention by rebuilding job descriptions, interview processes and onboarding practices
• Use data-driven tools to connect with new talent pools
• Network with talent-sourcing organizations as a key solution to talent shortages​

This half day workshop is a nationally recognized delivery model and is a SHRM certified activity.

What are skills-based practices and why are they important? Skills-based practices refer to talent acquisition and development strategies that focus on a set of objectively defined skills, rather than more broad credentials such as college degrees, years of experience, or past job titles. This means companies use hiring criteria and systems that assess candidates and develop staff based on the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to do a job. Employers find qualified candidates and fill open positions faster and improve employee advancement and retention.
