About The Loft Literary Center...
As an intergenerational, multicultural literary arts center, the Loft Literary Center advances the artistic development of writers, fosters a thriving literary community, and inspires a passion for literature. Through mentorships, awards and spaces to write, the Loft provides writers with tools that fuel their creative lives. Through creative writing and literature classes for people of all ages and levels, the Loft serves as community school for the arts. As a gathering place for readers and writers, the Loft features new voices and author discussions that put literature at the center of civic life and contemporary ideas. In 2000, the Loft, in partnership with Milkweed Editions and Minnesota Center for Book Arts, founded Open Book and renovated the three connected buildings in which all four organizations live, beginning the revitalization of Downtown East.
