This month, we will have a special presentation from Golden Valley Fire Chief John Crelly and Public Works Director, Tim Kieffer.
The City of Golden Valley is committed to providing residents with a wide range of essential services such as public works (maintaining streets, parks, and water and sewer infrastructure) and public safety (modern police and fire emergency response systems). Over the past several years, the City has been assessing its aging public buildings to determine where improvements are necessary to help better serve its residents well into the future. The buildings that house the Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments can no longer adequately support efficient delivery of City services. They lack equitable and inclusive restroom and locker room spaces, proper space for training, and proper storage for modern equipment and vehicles. To address these issues, the City proposes a $105 million investment plan plus an amount equal to interest and the costs of the issuance of any bonds that would allow the siting and construction of a new Public Works building outside of downtown Golden Valley and for the construction of a new Public Safety building on the current Public Works site that would serve as a Fire and Police headquarters, allowing for redevelopment in Downtown.
