Too often managers and other company officials have insufficient legal knowledge and experience regarding claims that can arise out of the employer-employee relationship. This session will provide management and human resources professionals with a general overview of state and federal laws that define the employment relationship, including: discrimination, breach of contract, whistleblower, retaliation, defamation, and tortious interference with contract. It will also offer practical information on how to reduce the risk of liability arising from employment issues, as well as how to conduct performance appraisals properly so that they can be a truly effective management tool.
