Clients come to counseling describing personal and relationship issues that need to be resolved. However, it often happens that within a few sessions they are stuck and aren’t making progress. Brief Psychotherapy identifies and breaks up the block that is keeping clients from achieving their desired goals. When underlying mistaken beliefs are identified and addressed, the client can move toward their goals in a healthy and productive way. Participants will learn through presentation, demonstration, and experiential exercises the techniques that can be used with their clients to get them unstuck and moving toward their desired goals. Objectives Participants will understand why clients get stuck in trying to resolve issues in their relationship. Participants will be able to identify the clients interfering mistaken beliefs that impact the relationship and their ability to solve problems. Participants will be able to help their clients identify and address three ways of solving problems. Participants will be able to help their clients learn an effective way to find solutions when dealing with issues in the relationship. This workshop is led by Susan Brokaw, LICSW, LMFT.
