The Celebrate Northeast Parade is a true sign of summer for our community. For over 90 years, the parade has marched on. Sadly, 2020 will be an exception. With the safety and health of the community in mind, we have made the decision to cancel the Celebrate Northeast Parade.
We will miss seeing all the students, non-profits, marching bands, community royalty programs, businesses, and community supporters marching down Central Avenue, as well as those of you that line the sidewalks cheering.
We look forward to seeing you next summer.
The Celebrate Northeast Parade occurs the third Tuesday evening in June. The parade is a 91-year community tradition drawing thousands of spectators to the route on Central Ave. Over 100 entrants participate in the parade, which is a combination of neighborhood organizations, businesses, nonprofits, local schools, marching bands, politicians, entertainers and Shriners. The parade engages over 100 volunteers, is broadcast live on local cable television and has a large social media following. Those who invest in and support the Celebrate Northeast parade are recognized as engaged members of the Northeast Minneapolis community.
